4 Tips for Organizing Your Time

Time- there are so many things we need it for. Sometimes a person feels burnt out by everything they do, and yet frustrated because they still don’t have enough time to get everything done.

Whether or not our time is organized will affect all aspects of our life including taking care of our home, getting enough sleep, and our family. Here are some organizational tips for utilizing your time.

1.) Prioritize what you need and want to accomplish and write it down. Using a notebook, day planner, or some electronic format to keep track will be helpful. Ask, ‘what am I struggling to keep up with?’ It could be things such as taking care of the house, studying for a course, spending more time with your family, getting together with friends, or going to bed on time.

2.) Contemplate how you have been using your time. If you are not sure where all your time is going, perhaps you should keep track of how you are using it every day, for about a week or so. Write down what you did every hour or simply mark down everything you do and the time you start and finish doing it. Take a look at things that weren’t necessary to your schedule or enjoyment. For instance, if watching excessive TV is contributing, consider writing down all the shows you watch and prioritizing which ones you really want to watch, and letting go of some others.

3.) Make a list of things you need to do daily, weekly, and less often, and then base your schedule around that. Decide which days will be best to do your weekly obligations and decide what time your daily obligations need to be done each day. Some people have their schedules specific with doing things at exact times, and others just have in mind what they need to do each day and what needs to be done first. Figure out what will work best for you.

4.) Consider how you can better utilize your time with the things you must get done. For example, you can include your family in your cleaning or organizing routine. If you have kids, they will thank you later when they grow up to be organized adults. Also, you can let them know that the more they help you, the more time you will have to play and spend together, after the job is done.

Time is precious, and will pass regardless of how you use it. By using these tips, though, you can make the most of your time, so you use it the way you want to.
